Right now, people already know that Netflix is one of the best platforms when it comes to content diversity. K-dramas, animes, documentary series, musicals, and many more — no matter what genre, Netflix likely has it. In the past years, we’ve noticed that this platform has invested in its Spanish library for both movies and TV series. And it didn’t go unnoticed as some of Netflix’s original Spanish content really made an impact.
In this blog post, we’ll be sharing some of the best Spanish TV series of all time that can be watched on Netflix. So without further ado, let’s start!
1. Money Heist (5 seasons, 41 episodes)
Of course, the top of this list would be the highly regarded La Casa de Papel or Money Heist. I’m not sure about other people, but the first time I watched this series, I got hooked immediately. It’s not the type of show that grows on you after a few episodes. It will literally hook you from the start. The story is about a group of people planning and executing the biggest heist in Spain.
If you’re not familiar with this TV series (although it’s highly unlikely), it’s where the iconic red jumpsuits and Salvador Dalí masks come from. I’m not sure if it’s already available on other streaming platforms like Amazon Prime, Hulu, or DIRECTV, but it’s definitely on Netflix.
2. Cable Girls (5 seasons, 42 episodes)
Cable Girls is about four women working as telephone operators in the 1920s. Since it’s set in the 1920s, women didn’t have many rights and had to fight for their freedom and dreams in a world controlled by men. If you love TV shows about women empowerment, you’ll enjoy this TV series. There’s also a lot of friendship, drama, romance, and everything in between. If you’re planning to binge-watch this series, make sure you have a stable internet connection because you’re going to be in it for many many hours.
3. Ingobernable (2 seasons, 24 episodes)
After being accused of a crime she didn’t commit, Emilia Urquiza, the First Lady of Mexico, is forced to go on the run while uncovering shocking secrets about the government. Ingobernable is a political thriller TV series, so if you prefer this kind of TV show, you’ll enjoy this. You’ll see Emilia fighting to prove her innocence as she looks into the corruption happening in the government. This TV series is still ongoing and you can only watch it on Netflix. But hopefully, it’ll be available on other streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Planet DISH, and many more.
4. Elite (8 seasons, 64 episodes)
If you like high school drama, murder, romance, betrayal, and everything in between, you’ll probably enjoy Elite. It’s set at an elite private school in Spain named Las Encinas where the rich and powerful rule. However, things changed when three working-class students were offered a scholarship at this prestige school. There are already a lot of episodes so you’ll be occupied for a long time.
Final Thoughts
That’s all we’ve got for now! There are still a lot of Spanish TV series on Netflix that are waiting to be discovered. You’ll likely spend a lot of time, and it’ll be a trial-and-error because we all have our own preferences. However, what we’re sure about is — you won’t be disappointed by the shows we’ve shared here. Happy watching!
