In a recent interview with Deadline, Jared Hess spoke about his love for Minecraft. “It’s one of those things. There was an immense audience that was so passionate about the game and for whom Minecraft was such a key part of their childhood adolescence, just something that they loved,” the director said. “The game itself is so creative, but it’s also ridiculous and really funny and absurd in so many ways. That was so much of the appeal to me in adapting it.”
Hess is a noted filmmaker known for his collaborations with his wife, Jerusha Elizabeth Hess. The two are known for serving as co-writers for films like Nacho Libre, Napoleon Dynamite, and Gentlemen Broncos. Hess was also the director of Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite.
