The true identity of the mysterious Baby Joey character in Superman has been confirmed.
Superman flies into United States theaters next month. Written and directed by James Gunn, the DCU movie stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Who is Baby Joey in Superman?
While he hasn’t been seen in any of the trailers for Superman, merchandise for the movie has revealed that a mysterious infant character named Baby Joey is part of the movie. Many online have speculated this could be Metamorpho’s son, Joseph Mason.
A description of a kids’ tie-in book titled Superman’s Friends and Foes, via ComicBookMovie, has now confirmed that Baby Joey is indeed Metamorpho’s toddler son.
Furthermore, it reveals some new plot details related to Lex Luthor and Metamorpho. “When Joey is take, Metamorpho must choose between working with Superman or Lex Luthor,” the description reads.
Metamorpho is played by Anthony Carrigan in the film. Based on the trailers, the character doesn’t seem to have any affiliation with the other members of the Justice Gang; rather, he seems to be stuck inside a prison that the Man of Steel eventually also finds himself trapped within.

Pictures,” the official synopsis for the movie reads. “In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor, and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.”
The cast further includes Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillow as Rick Flag Sr., María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer, and more.
Superman hits United States theaters on July 11, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
