Sony Pictures has shared the first Spider-Man 2.1 poster for the upcoming theatrical debut of the extended cut version of Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man 2 in 4K. It is expected to include new and extended scenes from the acclaimed sequel.
Tickets for the event will be available for purchase starting on July 25, 2025, at Fathom Entertainment and participating theatre box offices.
When is the Spider-Man 2.1 theatrical release date?
The limited screenings of Spider-Man 2.1 will officially take place on September 27 and October 4 as part of Sony Pictures and Fathom Entertainment’s special Spider-Man trilogy rerelease event. The original Tobey Maguire-led sequel was a box office hit that earned a worldwide gross of over $795 million. It currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 274 reviews.
“The second installment in the blockbuster Spider-Man movie series has the web-slinging superhero confronted by a formidable adversary named Dr. Otto Octavius, a scientist, better known as Doc Ock; whose experiments go awry, mutating him into a metallic, octopus-like creature,” reads the synopsis. “Peter must also come to terms with his decision to dedicate his life to fighting crime Spider-Man or give it all up to finally be with his true love, Mary Jane Watson, who he walked away from two years earlier.”
The Spider-Man trilogy was directed by Raimi, with Laura Ziskin serving as a producer. Besides Maguire, the franchise also starred Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, James Franco as Harry Osborn, Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn, J.K. Simmons as J.
