Anyone who is a fan of Star Wars action figures and toys has likely heard about the auction handled by WorthPoint Industry Partner Hake’s Auctions. It’s the first part of a massive collection from Colorado home builder and collector Jeff Jacob. Jacob has been collecting toys and action figures for 32 years and recently decided to sell his collection. WorthPoint spoke to Jeff about his collection; check out this interview to see his thoughts on the process and how he decided to let go of some of the pieces he spent years curating and collecting.
Alex Winter, the President of Hake’s Auctions, spoke with WorthPoint after the close of the first part of the Jacob collection, and the numbers definitely show that this collection was epic for collectors worldwide. He stated, “The auction did $1.45M, and most importantly, we are the first auction house to have an action figure-specific auction break the million dollar mark.”
The total sales number for the auction wasn’t the only record set. Kelly McClain, Hake’s Consignment Director, reported that of all the items in the auction, twelve broke the world record for the highest price ever paid for their specific categories. The star of the show was a Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi figure with a double-telescoping lightsaber that sold for $105,182.13, including buyer’s premium. It was the highest selling price ever for any Ben (Obi-Wan) figure.
Another item, an R2-D2 figure, sold for almost four times the estimated price. A buyer paid $38,940.00, including the buyer’s premium, which set the record for the highest sales price for any other R2-D2 figure.

Summing up the auction, Winter told WorthPoint,
When we landed the Jeff Jacob Collection, we knew we not only had something special but something that could turn out to be legendary. That was solidified with the very first offerings from his collection. We had hopes of cracking $1M, which we not only hit but went well beyond. There was such anticipation for this auction that we actually went live a week earlier than planned. From the get-go, the bidders showed up and bid early and often. But nothing prepared us for the closing night, which was nothing short of epic. Once the final bids were placed and the dust settled, we saw numerous world-record prices across all toy lines, especially with Star Wars, which is the main focus of his collection. This is just the beginning, as we still have thousands of items to offer. 2025 is going to be the Year Of Jeff Jacob.
