Ava has experienced considerable character development in the series, going from a highly corrupt and shameless individual to a more warm and supporting figure. However, she has managed to retain her signature ineptitude as a school principal, through it all.
So what happens to Ava in Abbott Elementary Season 4 Episode 18 and why was she fired? Here is your answer.
Why was Ava fired in Abbott Elementary Season 4 Episode 18?
Ava was fired from her job as principal of Abbott Elementary in Season 4 Episode 18, because she took bribes from golf course developers.
The teachers and Ava accepted the bribes as they wanted to remedy a major problem the school faced — shortage of resources. Ava benefited from the bribes as she had a walk-in wardrobe installed in her office.
However, things took a turn for the worse in Season 4 Episode 18, “Audit.” Ava admitted to fellow principal and rival sorority sister Crystal that she accepted the bribes. This was when the latter visited the school and was surprised to discover that the institution did not require basic supplies from the school district.
Manny, Janine’s former colleague in the district, warned Ava that the district was going to be sending someone to the school for inspection and to make sure they did not accept bribes.
Ava and the teachers then rushed to hide all the bribed goods they got from inspectors. They succeeded as the inspectors, who arrived, found nothing and prepared to leave. When it seemed that they would be undiscovered, the golf course developers’ lawyer, burst into the scene. The lawyer declared that he had brought in more bribes. The departing inspectors, getting blatant evidence, then demanded to know the culprit responsible for accepting the bribes.
Wishing to protect her staff, and having grown to care for them, Ava took the blame and accepted full responsibility. This resulted in Ava getting fired from Abbott Elementary. Ava originally believed that her job as principal made her harder to fire, when compared to teachers. However, the inspectors told her that letting a principal go was much easier. Nonetheless, Ava wasn’t too bothered by her firing.
