Scorsese’s works include biopics (Raging Bull), historical dramas (Killers of the Flower Moon), Biblical epics (The Last Temptation of Christ), character studies (Bringing Out the Dead, Taxi Driver), concert films (The Last Waltz), documentaries (No Direction Home), and dark comedies (After Hours, The King of Comedy).
And those are just the movies Scorsese has directed. Behind the scenes, he has touched even more projects as a producer or executive producer. Some of those films are about criminals or gangsters, of course, but many of them are not. He’s produced comedies, detective stories, family dramas, music industry tales, documentaries about the film world, and more.
Below, I’ve collected a list of 10 notable films, including cult classics, Oscar nominees, and arthouse hits that all emerged from Scorsese’s orbit in some way. I didn’t distinguish between movies he “produced” and those he “executive produced” because, frankly, those titles appear to be arbitrary to me. Based on research, Scorsese seems just as or more involved with some of the films he’s executive produced than produced. (This may be a contractual issue more than anything else.)
This list is only a starting point, too; there are plenty more titles that qualify, and Scorsese’s IMDb page currently lists over a dozen upcoming projects that he’s attached to as a producer in both film and television.
