The film world received shocking news on Tuesday, April 1, that Val Kilmer died. He was 65.
Kilmer was part of some of Hollywood’s most significant franchises. He donned the blank cape and mask in the Batman series during the 1990s and was part of the hugely successful first Top Gun movie. Other films in his portfolio include Tombstone and The Island of Dr. Moreau.

His suit and cape from Batman Forever earned the highest dollar, which Julien’s Auctions sold in July 2022 for $32,000. Other big sellers include a mask from Heat signed by Kilmer, Al Pacino, and Robert De Niro ($11,500, eBay) and an IGS Mint 9-graded sealed copy of Top Gun on VHS ($9,600, Goldin).
