Spruill Gallery’s (4681 Ashford Dunwoody Road) current exhibition is Sarah Emerson’s Returns, on view through June 6. See the artist’s highly stylized mixed-media drawings and paintings featuring versions of nature that combine geometric patterns and mythic archetypes to examine contemporary landscapes.

Pigments of the Imagination at Norcross Gallery & Studios (116 Carlyle St.) features works from a diverse group of contemporary artists and promises bold palettes, abstract forms and immersive visual storytelling.

Paint the Town: Alpharetta Plein Air is a show of works created by local artists showcasing paintings created on location in and around Alpharetta. It’s at the Alpharetta Arts Center (288 Canton St.) through June 7.

The Avondale Arts Alliance’s American Asian features the work of 16 local artists of Asian descent. This show honors the complexity, richness and diversity of the Asian American identity in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. It’s on view at the Avondale Arts Center (84 N. Avondale Road) through June 21.
Through June 28
Anywhere but Here brings together recent paintings and sculpture by Atlanta artist and Emory graduate Angelyn S. Chandler at the Chastain Park Arts Center & Gallery (135 Chastain Park Ave. NW). There will be an artist talk from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. June 28.
Through July 12
All the Fixins is an exhibition open to artists all over the South. Artists submitted their work for consideration by a panel of judges, with three winners awarded a cash prize as well as a people’s choice award. It’s presented by Woodstock Arts at the Reeves House Visual Arts Center (734 Reeves St., Woodstock)
June 5-August 7
Abernathy Arts Center in Sandy Springs (6621 Bridgewood Valley Road) presents Cheryl Henos’ It’s Not Just Black & White, an exhibit of hand-painted photography, opens June 5. Henos hand-paints her black and white photography in oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolor and pencil.
June 7-July 19
Journey of the Spirit: The Multi-dimensional Artistry of Sean Haynes will be on view in the ArtsXchange’s Jack Sinclair Gallery in East Point (2148 Newnan St.) on June 7, with an opening reception from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on June 14. There will be an artist talk from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on July 19.
June 20-July 10
The 7th Annual High Honors Art Competition and Exhibition at The Art Center in Johns Creek (6290 Abbotts Bridge Road, Building 700) is open to middle and high school students in Fulton, Forsyth, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties. The work will be on view beginning June 20, with the awards ceremony taking place from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. July 10.
July 16-25
The Art Center in Johns Creek (6290 Abbotts Bridge Road, Building 700) teams up with the Korean Art Association for GwangBok 80: Celebrating 80 Years of Korean Independence. The show will be on view beginning July 16, and there will be an opening reception from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on July 18.
July 28-August 28
People Not Things, curated by artist and arts advocate Genesis Be, will showcase emerging Black women artists to amplify deserving voices historically suppressed in fine art spaces. See it at the Callanwolde Fine Arts (980 Briarcliff Road NE) beginning July 28. There’s an opening reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on August 7.
