Seoul-based gallery Jason Haam has announced the creation of Jason Haam Secondary, an exhibition and sales program dedicated to secondary-market artworks. The program is slated to launch in May 2025, ahead of the anticipated opening of the gallery’s expanded space in September.
“Promoting our artists’ works on the international stage is a costly and ambitious endeavor—one that has only been possible because of the trust my customers have placed in me,” said founder Jason Haam. “Yet, I have come to realize that I have not done much for them in return. Collectors, especially those who engage deeply with a gallery’s program, naturally evolve in their tastes and collections. Sometimes, they wish to part with certain works—not for quick profit, but simply as part of that journey.”
Haam intends for this new program to support his collectors, adding value to the gallery and its relationships. “I am delighted that the gallery now has all the tools we need to help them in that process and develop more reciprocal relationships with my customers,” Haam said. “We are confident that we can add value by providing a more bespoke and considered approach to trading artworks for Korean collectors and, hopefully, beyond.”
The gallery, which opened in January 2018 in Seongbuk-dong, Seoul, has quickly become a key player in the South Korean art scene. Its roster includes a lineup of international artists such as Jonathan Gardner, Linn Meyers, and Cheikh Ndiaye, as well as South Korean artists including Jihyoung Han, Mike Lee, and Artsy Vanguard alum Moka Lee.
In July 2024, Jason Haam announced its plans to expand into the adjacent building, tripling the gallery’s space. In advance of the demolition phase of the expansion project, the exterior of the building was transformed with a site-specific installation by Swiss artist Urs Fischer, coinciding with his solo exhibition at the gallery.
