Jonathan Bailey has seemingly teased Mahershala Ali‘s involvement in future MCU projects. While promoting Jurassic World Rebirth, Bailey, Ali, and Scarlett Johansson took part in a lighthearted trivia game for Vogue. When Bailey was asked to name the Marvel films his co-stars had appeared in, Ali jokingly removed himself from the question, prompting laughter from his co-stars. The exchange added fresh fuel to fan speculation about Ali’s role in the MCU.
What did Jonathan Bailey say to Mahershala Ali?
Jonathan Bailey recently had a playful exchange with Mahershala Ali that added fuel to ongoing Marvel speculation. While participating in Vogue’s Off the Cuff series with Jurassic World Rebirth co-stars Ali and Scarlett Johansson, Bailey was asked to name the Marvel films each of them had been in.
Ali, who has long been associated with Marvel’s Blade reboot, immediately removed himself from the question. Laughingly, he said, “Leave me out of it. That’s just a Scarlett question.” To this, Bailey quipped, “Well, there’s one that we’re very excited about.”
Ali was introduced as the new Blade back in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con, but the film has since faced repeated delays, director exits, rewrites, and scheduling setbacks. To date, his only MCU appearance remains a brief voice cameo in the post-credits scene of Eternals.
Meanwhile, Bailey and Ali struggled to accurately list all of Johansson’s MCU films. Bailey’s guesses includes “Captain America 1 and 2,” “Avengers 1 to 5” and “Black Widow 1.” Then Johansson also joined in the teasing Ali, asking, “And you, Mahershala? What about you?” However, Ali chose to ignore the question.
Previously, Ali has addressed the Blade delays more directly. At the Jurassic World Rebirth premiere in New York, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s taking it “a day at a time.” When asked about Blade, he admitted, “I would love for Blade to happen; we’ll see, I don’t know where Marvel is at right now. I’m just looking for the next great part, I really am.” He also shared that his work on Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother helped him scratch his “stunts itch.”
