Bold and architectural – structural and daring – these are some of the ways I’d describe pieces by ORMAN. Made in Istanbul and designed by Setenay Orman, it was such a pleasure getting to meet her and witness her creations. It takes a lot to prepare for a show like NY NOW and being based an entire continent away makes it even more stressful, but I’m so glad I got the opportunity to try-on her pieces. Where from/where are you based: I was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden (where I launched my business), but I’ve lived in Istanbul on and off since high school, and have been based here for the past three years.
How long have you been in the jewelry industry:
I started my education in jewelry (design and wax carving, metalsmithing) in 2014, and launched ORMAN in 2018. In 2021, I started my education in gemstones with GIA. Before I launched my business, I was a strategist and project manager in PR for almost 10 years.
Zodiac sign: Cancer, but my birth chart is packed with Libra influences 🙂
Favorite gemstone: stones that come in a variety of colors are the most fun, I think! Garnets, sapphires, tourmalines, topaz.
Favorite piece in your collection: my 40th gift-to-self, a Lemon Quartz Bud Ring from my Keepsake collection, is my everyday go-to, and I very much love my chains from the Afloat collection right now, both Anchor and Sail.
