In the last few weeks, the tension between Philip Kiriakis and his cousin, Xander, reached a boiling point with the two clashing violently. Philip ended up severely injured in this. What followed were weeks of Philip fighting for his life and Xander getting heavy with guilt.
But it reaches another turning point in the June 13 episode of Days of Our Lives. Kate remains by Philip’s side, who is yet to recover from the injury. After weeks of staying at Philip’s bedside, Kate returns to the hospital after John Black’s funeral. But she enters the hospital to find a chilling scene.
She spots Xandar alone in Philip’s hospital room, standing over his bed with a pillow in his hands. As Sarah and Kate walk in, he scrambles to compose himself, but it is quite clear that he was trying to smother Philip to death. He denies immediately that he was trying to smother Philip, but Kate does not trust him and is now more convinced than ever that Xander was the reason behind Philip’s present condition.
So, as per this episode’s revelation, Xander is still a threat to Philip, and the latter may be in big danger if he does not wake up soon. The rest of the episode goes elsewhere and sheds some light on Steve and Kayla’s dinner with Jack and Jennifer at The Bistro. But Xander and Philip’s dynamic will remain the primary issue in Days of Our Lives for now.
