Carolyn Hennesy, who plays Diane Miller in General Hospital, expressed her desire for her character to be revealed as the mother of one of the soap opera’s major characters. She shared them in an interview, where she also disclosed other ideas for the character that the long-running show could explore moving forward. Hennesy’s Miller has been part of the show since 2006, being involved in numerous prominent storylines. In an exclusive Aspiring Magazine interview, Carolyn Hennesy shared her enthusiasm for exploring a plot twist involving Diane being Damian’s mother in General Hospital. She also revealed some storyline ideas for the character she wanted to delve into. These ideas included a plot point where Hennesy could showcase her singing talents.

“We really lack insight into Diane’s background, so I’ve imagined her origins as part of a circus family,” Hennesy stated. “I would be thrilled to see Damian Spinelli as Diane’s long-lost son.”

Interestingly, Hennesy — also an author — has a connection to Spinelli via her 2011 book The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli. Moreover, she opened up about a storyline idea for Diane that resembled an idea explored in the film The Fabulous Baker Boys. Hennesy envisioned “Diane running a speakeasy in a rough neighborhood.” In this speakeasy, she lounged over the piano “five nights in a week,” and also performed. The Daytime Emmy nominee said that she had pitched the idea of Miller being a lounge singer to the creatives. She noted that executive producer Frank Valentini promised to make her pitch a reality “one day.”

Furthermore, Carolyn Hennesy expressed her belief that Diane Miller and Nancy Lee Grahn’s Alexis Davis should become cat burglars. She also explained a ridiculous storyline idea for Miller, which would see her become a superhero. “Picture this: at the top of the Empire State Building, Diane hang glides off in a scene straight out of a Marvel comic,” she stated. Hennesy said that Diane hang-glided between buildings and landed in Newark, as part of a dare. She added that Diane got abducted by aliens and was a superhero who was not yet aware of her powers.
