The 2025 NFL Draft was held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, from April 24-26. The day before the draft started, a historic piece of Green Bay Packers memorabilia was found at a thrift store about five miles away.
Green Bay resident Dominic Blozinski discovered a 1950 Packers stock certificate at the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in Ashwaubenon on April 23. When Blozinski saw the certificate, his hands “started shaking,” he told the Green Bay Press Gazette.
Blozinski was “about 80%” sure that the certificate was authentic, he said. As such, he purchased the certificate for $199.99 and brought it to Mike Worachek, the owner of a sports memorabilia store in Ashwaubenon.
Less than an hour after the purchase, Blozinski verified the certificate’s authenticity and sold it to Worachek for $2,000. Shortly after, Worachek sold the certificate for $3,000 and gave some of his profits to Blozinski.
Blozinski’s discovery was the third Packers stock certificate sold. The Packers are the only publicly owned NFL team. Currently, over 538,000 stockholders own 5.2 million Packers shares. The team last offered stock for sale on February 25, 2022.
Previously, Blozinski discovered a 1960s Packers player equipment bag at a Green Bay rummage sale. He paid $100 for the bag and sold it for over $1,000.
Blozinski will continue to keep an eye out for historic Packers memorabilia at thrift stores across the area. “It’s a feeding frenzy now … Social media brings an aspect that you can get a quick hundred bucks if you find a signed something at a garage sale in Green Bay, especially being in Green Bay,” he said.
