TORONTO — As Toronto prepares to roll out the red carpet for the 50th anniversary of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), organizers have unveiled another wave of highly anticipated films, underscoring the festival’s global reach and reputation for cinematic excellence. The newly announced lineup features eleven distinctive titles from renowned filmmakers, set to screen in the prestigious Gala and Special Presentations programmes.
This fresh selection includes world premieres from award-winning directors Nicholas Hytner, Derek Cianfrance, Agnieszka Holland, Paul Greengrass, Clement Virgo, and Rian Johnson, along with eagerly awaited North American and Canadian premieres from Chloé Zhao, Neeraj Ghaywan, Rebecca Zlotowski, Peter Ho-Sun Chan, and filmmaker HIKARI.
In a statement, TIFF’s Chief Programming Officer, Anita Lee, highlighted the festival’s mission: “Since its inception, TIFF has championed global cinema that opens our eyes and brings us together. This year’s newly announced Gala and Special Presentations films demonstrate our unwavering commitment to diverse storytelling, innovative filmmaking, and international perspectives.”
